The correct steps are taken to ensure the normal operation and prolong the service life of LED displays.

The operation of LED display screen mainly includes power on and off, content editing and transmission, brightness and resolution adjustment, and daily maintenance. The following are specific instructions for these operations:

Power on and off

  1. Power on:
  2. Turn on the power switch, usually on the back of the display screen or inside the control cabinet. If multiple display screen modules are used, it is necessary to turn on the power of each module one by one.
  3. After booting up, the system will automatically initialize, and there may be flickering or text flickering during this period, which is normal. In some cases, it is necessary to first turn on the video source, wait for the signal light to turn on normally, and then turn on the main power switch of the LED display screen.
  4. Shutdown:
When shutting down, the power switches of each display module should be turned off first, and then the main power should be turned off. Alternatively, turn off the main power switch of the LED display screen first, and then turn off the signal source, otherwise it may cause high brightness on the screen, which can easily burn out the light tube and chip.
When not in use for a long time, the main power should be turned off to save energy.

Content Editing and Transmission

  1. Content editing:
Usually done through specialized software. Open the LED display editing software and create a new file.
  2. Enter the content to be displayed in the software interface, such as text, images, or videos.
  3. Adjust attributes such as font, color, size, as well as position and animation effects.
  4. Preview the effect, confirm it is correct, and save the file.
  5. Content transmission:
  6. Serial port transmission: Connect the computer to the LED display screen through a serial port cable, and then use serial port software to transmit data on the computer.
  7. Network transmission: If the LED display supports the network function, it can be transmitted through the LAN or the Internet. It is necessary to set the corresponding network parameters on the computer and then use specialized software for transmission.
  8. USB drive transfer: Save the edited file to a USB drive, and then insert the USB drive into the USB interface of the LED display screen to transfer it.

Brightness and Resolution Adjustment

  1. Brightness adjustment:
  2. Brightness detection: It is a technology that allows the display screen to “self examine”, which is responsible for evaluating whether the brightness of each area on the screen is uniform and meets the preset standards.
  3. Brightness adjustment: Based on the detected brightness situation, automatically or manually adjust the brightness output of the display screen to adapt to different environmental lighting and viewing needs. Brightness adjustment may involve adjusting the current intensity of LED beads or changing the grayscale level of the displayed image.
  4. Resolution adjustment:
  5. Adjust through control software: Open the LED display control software, enter the resolution setting interface, select the appropriate resolution parameter, confirm the adjustment, and save the settings.
  6. Through hardware adjustment: Some large stage LED displays support resolution adjustment through hardware buttons or menus. Find the adjustment button or menu, select the appropriate resolution according to the display prompt, confirm the adjustment, and save the settings.
When adjusting the resolution, it is important to ensure that the resolution of the display screen matches the resolution of the content being played, in order to avoid unclear display or distorted images. At the same time, it is important to pay attention to the physical limitations of the display screen and avoid frequent resolution adjustments.

Daily maintenance and upkeep

  1. Regularly check whether the connection wires of the display screen are loose or damaged, and clean the surface of the display screen regularly to prevent dust and dirt from affecting the display effect. Please use a soft bristled brush to gently wipe, and do not use any liquid substances for cleaning.
  2. Regularly inspect the wiring of LED display screens, and replace accessories and wires in a timely manner if aging or rodent bites are found.
  3. Do not touch the power switch with wet hands to avoid electric leakage and shock accidents.
  4. Air conditioning can be used to dehumidify the LED display screen, and desiccants can be placed to keep the screen and environment dry and prevent the LED display screen from getting damp.
  5. Do not place plants around the screen. The transpiration of plants will release water molecules, and plants need to be watered frequently. Long term exposure to this humid environment in indoor LED displays will not only cause short circuits in the light beads, but also seriously affect the service life of LED displays over time.
  6. The LED display screen should be turned on at least twice a week and kept on for at least 2 hours (especially during the rainy season). Otherwise, if it is not turned on for a long time, the screen may experience dead lights when it is turned on again.
  7. It is recommended that the LED display screen be turned off for more than 2 hours every day, and outdoor LED displays are not recommended to be used during noon in summer.
  8. The screen body is strictly prohibited from containing water, iron powder, iron filings, cement slurry, and other conductive and corrosive substances.
  9. The content played on the screen should not be in a completely white and bright state for a long time, in order to avoid excessive current, damage to the LED beads, affect the service life, and even cause safety hazards.
Finally, the operation of LED displays involves multiple aspects and requires following the correct steps to ensure their proper functioning and extend their lifespan.
